Day 1 - Arrival at CALICUT
Arrival in Calicut airport- check-in hotel/resort in Calicut. Visit the the city and enjoy an evening experience of Kalaripayattu (Keralan Martial art performance). Overnight at hotel.
Day 2 - CALICUT - KANNUR (95KM)
After Breakfast proceed to Kannur. En route you can visit the famous historical Thalassery Fort, constructed in 1708 AD, when the British East India Company established its settlement on the Malabar Coast. The square fort, with its massive walls, secret tunnels to the sea and intricately carved huge doors, is an imposing structure. Arrive and check in at Hotel. Evening at leisure. Overnight at hotel.
Day 3 KANNUR
After a leisurely breakfast we will take you on a ride for sightseeing where you can see Arakkal Palace, St.Angelo fort and also enjoy the Muzhappilangadu Drive in Beach. Later in the evening you can enjoy the ritual art performance of “theyyem", a popular ritual dance of North Kerala. This dance or invocation is generally performed in front of the village shrines. Normally the performance starts in the evening and continues till next day morning.
We will provide stay near to the performing area so that guests can have easy access to the venue even in the nights to experience the programs.
Day 4 KANNUR - WAYANAD (140KMS)
After breakfast, drive down to Wayanad. Arrive and check in at hotel/home stay.
Wayanad district has a luxurious forest with waterfall, mist covered valleys, spice plantations, hill ranges, wildlife sanctuaries and stone age sites. Check-in hotel/home stay free at leisure. Over night.
Day 5 WAYANAD
After breakfast, leave for Kuruwa Island, a 955 acres island which is rich for its flora and fauna. Carry packed lunch from the hotel. Explore the island till lunch time. Have Lunch & relax for one hour. Leave for Tholpetty wildlife sanctuary. Jeep safari can be organized in the sanctuary. Return to the hotel / home stay after shopping at Wayanad. Overnight at hotel.
Day 6 WAYANAD
After Breakfast leave for Edakkal caves with packed lunch. Edakkal caves are pre-historic caves. It is soft trekking. After Edakkal caves, have your lunch and relax for some time. Then drive down to Soochipara waterfalls – a 3 tiered waterfalls. Return to the hotel in the evening. Resting for the day. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 7 WAYANAD - CALICUT (90KM)
THRISSUR BY TRAIN
After an early Breakfast transfer to Calicut via Lakkidi, the gateway of Wayanad district, located at 2297 feet atop the Thamarassery Ghat Pass, beyond which lie the Kozhikode plains.
Also to be seen on this drive is the famous “Chain Tree” – a banyan tree with chains wrapped around its trunk. The legend goes that a British engineer who did not know the road to Wayanad was shown the way by a tribal. Later, the Brit claimed to have discovered it on his own and killed the tribal to preserve his claim..
In Lakkidi – you may also visit – Pookote Lake – freshwater lake, 21 feet deep and covered in parts with lotus flowers. Later we will transfer the guests to Calicut railway station by surface to board the train to Thrissur. The train journey to Thrissur will take about 4 hrs this will give the tourists a wonderful experience and also get chance to interact with chance to interact with local people.
On arrival at Thrissur we will transfer to a city hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 8 THRISSUR - GURUVAYOOR (30KM) - COCHIN (95KM)
After Breakfast proceed to Guruvayur, known for its scenic beauty and serenity. It is also famous for the Guruvayurappan Temple and elephant sanctuary - one of the largest in all over the world. Proceed to Cochin after visit.
Arrive and check in at hotel. Later in the evening, guests enjoy a performance of the highly ritualized “kathakali" dance which tells stories from the ancient Hindu epics – Ramayana and Mahabharata. Performances begin with the application of elaborate makeup which is based in traditional Ayurvedic principles. Over night at hotel.
Day 9 COCHIN - MUNNAR (130KM)
After breakfast proceed for Cochin sightseeing covering St. Francis Church, Fort Cochin, Cochin Harbor and Santa Cruz Basilica.
After Lunch drive down to Munnar, the abode of environmental purity situated at the confluence of three mountain streams . Sitting high on the observatory hill at 1600m above sea level, this charming retreat is set amidst a cardamom estate surrounded by tea clad hills and dramatic rainforest where you can unwind and fill your lungs with pure Mountain air. On arrival, check-in at your hotel. Spend the rest of the day free at leisure.
Day 10 MUNNAR
You may choose to be at leisure enjoying the nature or you may also go for sightseeing in and around Munnar.
Some of the locations which you would like to visit are the Mattupetty dam, Kumdala, hilltop station, Devikulam and the Eravikulam National Park.
There are also activities you can experiment like the Cardamom Walk (4km/ 2hr), the Mountain guided Trek (7km) in the mountains of the Western Ghats or the Waterfall Trek (9 Km through the beautifully landscaped tea plantation and intermittent woods). A picnic lunch can also be organized during this trek Later in the evening enjoy the sunset from the top of mountain. Relax in the hotel.
Day 11 MUNNAR - KUMARAKOM (158KMS)
After leisurely breakfast check out from resort and you will proceed to the back water area of Kumarakam. Check-in your hotel/resort. Free time for leisure.
Kumarakam is known as the Venice of India, as it is full of small canals and bridges everywhere. In the "best backwater destination of India" enjoy sailing through scenic backwaters, and observe life along these “water highways” while passing through one of the few areas in the world where farming is done below sea level.
Day 12 HOUSEBOAT
After breakfast embark your exclusive HOUSE BOAT for memorable overnight round cruise in and around Kumarakom. The houseboats are giant 80 foot crafts that were adapted for luxuriously furnished stays.
A KETTUVALLOM (HOUSEBOAT) DO PROVIDE ACCOMMODATION AND OTHER AMENITIES SUITABLE FOR AN OVERNIGHT STAY BUT DEFINITELY NOT TO BE TREATED AS A SUBSTITUTION FOR THE HOTEL ACCOMMODATION
Day13 ALLEPPEY - VARKALA (113 KMS)
After breakfast disembark your houseboat and drive down to Varkala. On arrival check in a resort – free at leisure –enjoy the activities of the beach.
DAY 14 VARKALA and YOGA
After breakfast visit a yoga center in Varkala for one day course. Later back to resort. Over night at resort.
DAY 15 VARKALA - TRIVANDRUM (40 kms)
After breakfast check from Varkala and drive down to Trivandrum Airport for your own ward connection flight.
